LEAF BUGS

Just like leaves, leaf bugs come in all shapes, sizes and colours. Using some of the very best camouflage, they will dance back and forth to look like a leaf blowing in the wind if a predator approaches. Nothing to eat here, just leaves blowing in the wind. They also imitate scorpions by curving their tail upwards to look like a stinger to scare off would-be diners. They are so good at camouflage that sometimes they fool other stick bugs looking for a yummy leaf to chomp on. “Oh, sorry about that Bill! Thought you were a leaf.” If left in our ecosystem, they would quickly thrive at the expense of our local insects.
